Aim:

To develop leadership and management skills through coaching and mentoring.  This course is aimed at new and aspiring middle managers.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this half-day short course delegates will be able to:-

1. Understand the coaching cycle, and the models/techniques available for coaching in the workplace.

2. Understand where ethics and contracting contribute to coaching and mentoring.

3. Undertake an experiential learning coaching exercise using coaching model.

Individuals in eligible SMEs can claim £50 training support from the EDGE II programme towards this course.

ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership and Management, Short Course

Description

Who are these qualifications for?
The Level 4 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management is designed for new and aspiring middle managers. These qualifications help learners to really get to grips with their role, gain comprehensive business knowledge, and develop the technical skills they need to lead effectively at this level.

The University will be offering the L4 Award through the EDGE II programme focusing on two learning modules:

  1. 8607-400 Understanding the Management Role to Improve Management performance
  2. 8607-405 Developing People in the Workplace

About ILM

Learning Structure
The programme is designed around an induction session, a minimum of two hours tutorial support and delivery of the two modules outlined above. This is a short programme will take an estimated 20-24 weeks to complete, with three days on campus blended with learning on the job, completion and submission of assignments.

Progression
This qualification will provide progression opportunities to other qualifications such as ILM Level 5 Award or Certificate in Leadership and Management. As part of this programme we will offer all participants a L5 taster session in Coaching and Mentoring.

Price for the Training
£580 for the L4 Award, which includes your registration with the Institute of Leadership and Management, teaching, tutorial support, access to University learning resources and certificate of completion.

For those individuals employed in eligible SMEs the University is able to offer a training discount with funding from the European Social Fund through the EDGE II programme. This discount will be equivalent to £250 discount for all participants completing the programme and awarded the L4 Award.

This discount is subject to the completion of required paperwork to demonstrate the employer is an eligible SME and the learner is eligible for support. Please note the University will invoice the employer for £580 before commencement of the learning and then credit £250 back upon completion of the learning and evidencing whether the learner has progressed to further higher-level learning, progressed in work or has joined an apprenticeship programme.
