Policing Symposium: Professionalisation of the Police Service through the Police Education Qualifications Framework, Thursday 8th June 2017

Description

As part of its tenth anniversary celebrations, The University of Cumbria is holding a Symposium to bring together a wide spectrum of expertise in policing with the aim to contribute to the debate about the Professionalisation of the Police Service through the Police Education Qualifications Framework. This gathering of experts in the field of policing is an inter-disciplinary platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss the changes to the service as recently announced by the College of Policing (2016). 

The event is aimed at external delegates primarily from other HE institutions, academics specialising in Policing, professional bodies such as the College of Policing, and Police Forces from around England/Wales.

The Symposium will be opened by the University of Cumbria Vice Chancellor Professor Julie Mennell and Chief Constable in Cumbria Jerry Graham.  We are pleased to confirm the following Key Note speakers:

  • Professor Dr John Ashton
  • Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary Mike Cunningham QPM
  • Professor Simon Holdaway, Professor of Criminology, Nottingham Trent University
  • Chief Constable Alex Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of the College of Policing
