Detailed Description
The University of Cumbria Password English Language Test (UCPELT) is for international students who are applying for a course at the University of Cumbria and require English Language Certification as part of their application.
The UCPELT is similar to an IELTS test and as it is marked in the same way as an IELTS test the UCPELT offers a comparable result. The benefits of undertaking the UCPELT is that the test is undertaken remotely and can be taken within your own home at a time and date convenient to you without the requirement to travel to a testing centre.
The test takes up to three and a half hours to complete and comprises of four sections: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
The time allowance for each section is as follows:
Reading: 75 Minutes
Writing: 30 Minutes
Listening: 60 Minutes
Speaking: 20 Minutes
Students are allowed a short ten-minute break between the Writing and Listening sections of the test.
Students will be required to register with Examity in order schedule their test appointment at a convenient time and to undergo security and technical checks prior to commencing the test.
Most reasonably modern PCs meet the requirements to run Password tests:
You will require:
- Microsoft Windows 10 or 11 operating system
- Stable Internet connection with a minimum bandwidth of 200kbps
- Google Chrome (version 53 or above) web browser
- Headphones or speakers
- A microphone
The exam cannot be accessed using Mac computers, Tablets or Mobile Phone devices.
Test results will be available to students within 7 working days of test completion. The test result is non transferrable and cannot be used at other Higher Education institutions.
